Q10098 Send data from DASYLab to a DAP for output updates

Applies to: generate output signal in DASYLab for a DAP

How do I generate a signal in DASYLab and send it to the DAP for output updates?

Using a DAP in DASYLab involves programming on the DASYLab side and configuring the DAP in the 'DAP Box' provided by the DAP Power DLL for DASYLab. Follow the steps outlined below to generate a signal in DASYLab and send it to the DAP for output updates.

  1. Start a new worksheet in DASYLab.
  2. Use one of the generators in DASYLab to produce a signal. Two examples are the 'Generator' for a waveform and 'TTL Pulse Generator' under Modules | Control.
  3. Go to Modules | Inputs/Outputs | DAP | DAP Box | New. Place the DAP Box onto the worksheet. You should see a 'DAP Box Status Window' at the bottom of the worksheet.
    • If you do not see an option for a DAP or DAP Box, contact DASYLab for the DAP Power DLL.
  4. Double-click the DAP Box for the graphical configuration window.
    • If a text window pops up instead, close the window. Go to DAP Box Status Window | Dap Box Mode and select 'Switch to Graphics Mode'. Double-click on the DAP Box again.
  5. Inside the DAP Box, go to Modules | Inputs/Outputs | DAP | DAP Box | Export/Import Module. Select 'Import analog channels' for analog outputs or 'Import digital channels' for digital outputs. Place module on worksheet. Double-click on the 'Import' module and configure.
  6. Inside the DAP Box, go to Modules | Inputs/Outputs | DAP | Input/Output and select 'Analog Output' or 'Digital Output'. Connect the 'Output' module to the 'Import' module.
  7. Go to DAP Box Status Window | Dap Box Mode and select 'Switch to Text Mode' to exit the DAP Box.
  8. Connect your signal generator to the 'Import to DAP' module. The worksheet is now ready to send signal generated in DASYLab to the DAP for output updates.

Note that the steps above are described for DASYLab 11. However, they should be similar to those for earlier versions of DASYLab. Download an example for output updates for DASYLab 11.
