Q10097 10-pin header for analog outputs

Tags: Help, MSXB056, MSXB027

Applies to: analog expansion boards that include analog outputs on 10-pin connectors

I have a board with a 10-pin shrouded header for analog outputs. How should I connect to it?

A 10-pin DIP shrouded header is used primarily for analog outputs on some analog expansion boards. It has two rows of pins with a 0.10" (2.54mm) spacing. It mates with female (receptable, socket) 10-pin connector on a connecting cable.

Related Products and Pinout

  1. MSXB056 - Analog Output Expansion Board

The 10-pin headers are used for analog outputs on the following model of MSXB056, where m denotes package form:

    • MSXB056-02-m - four 16-bit analog outputs

Figures 1a and 1b show the pinout of the 10-pin shrouded header on the MSXB056 and the mating connector on the cable. The header is J8 on the board.

  2. MSXB027 - Analog Output Expansion Board

The 10-pin headers are used for analog outputs on the following model of MSXB056, where m denotes package form:

    • MSXB027-05-m - two DACs from DAP and four outputs from an analog output expansion board

The pinout of the 10-pin header J6 on the MSXB027 is the same as that on the MSXB056, as shown in Figure 1a.

Mating Hardware

The 10-pin shrouded headers on the expansion boards are AMP part 103169-3, or equivalent. They mate with the following part from AMP/Tyco for an IDC cable:

  • 10-pin female connector - 746294-1
  • Strain relief for 10-pin IDC connector - 499252-5

The following product from Microstar mates with the 10-pin header:

  • MSCBL014 - 10-line ribbon cable
