Applies to: xDAP and accessory boards with HD62 connector

I have an xDAP or an accessory board with a HD62 connector for inputs and outputs. How should I connect to it?

Female (receptacle, socket) HD62 connectors are used for the digital port on the xDAP and some models of our digital I/O expansion boards. They are high-density connectors with 62 pins in three rows. They mate with male (plug) HD62 connectors on connecting cables.

Related Products and Pinout

  1. xDAP - USB Data Acquisition Processor system

A female HD62 connector is used on the following models:

    • xDAP7400 - 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs. It also has 16 analog inputs available on a 68-line connector.

Figures 1a and 1b show the pinout when connecting to the HD62 connector, with the corresponding connections on the male HD62 connector on the cable.

  2. MSXB038 - Digital I/O Expansion Board

A female HD62 connector is used on the following models, where x and y denote the version release and the package form, respectively:

    • MSXB038-x-y3P - 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs

The pinouts of the HD62 connector on the board and the mating male connector are the same as that of the xDAP. The one exception is that on the MSXB038 board the power and ground connetions are not fused. The connection diagrams are shown in Figures 1a and 1b above.

  3. MSXB078 - Isolated Digital I/O Expansion Board

A female HD62 connector is used on the following models, where x and y denote the version release and the package form, respectively:

    • MSXB078-x-y3P - 16 isolated digital inputs and 16 isolated digital outputs

Figures 2a and 2b show the pinout when connecting to the HD62 connector on the MSXB078, with the corresponding connections on the male HD62 connector on the cable.

  4. MSCBL112 - Cable Adapter

A female HD62 connector is used on following model of the MSCBL112:

    • MSCBL112-01 - 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs

The MSCBL112 is a cable adapter that connects to the 100-line digital I/O port on the DAP board and provides access to the digital I/O via the HD62 connector on a PC backpanel. The pinouts of the HD62 connector on the board and the mating male connector are the same as that of the xDAP and MSXB038. They are shown in Figures 1a and 1b above.

Mating Hardware

The female HD62 connector used on the boards has part number AMP 5748394-5. It mates with the following parts from AMP/Tyco Electronics.

  • HD62 Connector - 748367-1
  • Shell - 748676-4
  • Male pins for 22-28 AWG wires - 748333-4

The following product from Microstar mates with the female HD62 connector:

  • MSCBL109-01K - cable kit for shielded round cable consisting of a male connector body, shell for strain relief, and pins for all contacts
  • MSCBL126-01-L56 - Male-to-male shielded round cable, 56 inches
