Q10082 100-line rectangular connector for digital I/O

Tags: Help, digital I/O

Applies to: PCI DAP, MSCBL113, accessory boards with 100-line rectangular connector

I have a board with a 100-line rectangular connector for digital I/O. How should I connect to it?

Male (plug) 100-line rectangular (sometimes called square) connectors are used for digital I/O on some digital expansion boards and cable adapter for PCI DAP boards. They are retangular connectors with a double row of pins on 0.050-inch centers. They mate with female (receptable, socket) 100-line rectangular connectors on connecting cables.

Related Products and Pinout

  1. PCI DAP Boards

The male 100-line rectangular connector is used on the following models of the PCI DAP boards for digital I/O:

    • DAP 4000a
    • DAP 4200a
    • DAP 5000a
    • DAP 5016a
    • DAP 5200a
    • DAP 5216a

The 100-line connector is not accessible from the back of the PC. It is normally accessed through a cable adapter installed in an adjacent slot. The cable adapter can be model number MSCBL076 for a D connector or MSCBL113 for a rectangular connector on a PC backpanel. Figures 1a and 1b show the pinout when connecting to the 100-line rectangular connector on a PCI DAP directly, with the corresponding connections on the female connector on the cable.

  2. MSXB036 - Counter/Timer Board with Digital I/O

The male 100-line connector is used on the MSXB036 for digital I/O on following models of the MSXB036, where m and n denote package form and panel options, respectively

    • MSXB036-03-m3n - 10 high-speed counters, 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs

The counters are connected to the MSXB036 via a 40-line connector. The 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs connect to the 100-line connector. The pinout of the 100-line rectangular connector on the MSXB036 is the same as that on the PCI DAP. The pinout and the corresponding connections on the female connector on the cable are shown in Figures 1a and 1b above.

  3. MSCBL113 - Cable Adapter

A male 100-line rectangular connector is used on the PC backpanel of the following model of the MSCBL113:

    • MSCBL0113-01

The MSCBL113 cable adapter board connects to the digital I/O port on most PCI DAP boards to bring access to the digital I/O to the back of the PC via the 100-line rectangular connector. It supports the PCI DAP boards listed under #1 above.

The pinout of the rectangular connector on the MSCBL113 is the same as that on the PCI DAP. The pinout and the corresponding connections on the female connector on the cable are shown in Figures 1a and 1b above.

Mating Hardware

The 100-line male connector is AMP/Tyco part number 6-104549-0 (vertical) on the DAP and MSXB036. That on the MSCBL113 is 6-104069-7 (right-angle). They both mate with the following parts from AMP/Tyco for a ribbon cable:

  • Connector assembly - 2-111196-4

The following product from Microstar mates with the male connector:

  • MSCBL036 - 100-line ribbon cable
  • MSCBL038-01K - ribbon IDC cable kit including connector
